Chip Cargas Receives Lancaster Chamber’s 2019 Exemplar Award
Lancaster, Pennsylvania – June 3, 2019 –Last week, Chip Cargas received the 2019 Exemplar Award during the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce’s 147th annual dinner.
Each year, the Lancaster Chamber presents the Exemplar Award to a local business or individual who best exemplifies the Chamber’s mission, has made significant contributions to the business community, and helped improve Lancaster County’s quality of life.
Cargas is the founder of Cargas Systems, an employee-owned software company with 128 employees. Cargas Systems is dedicated to sharing its success with the local community and has specific initiatives focused on increasing diversity in STEM programs and careers. The company contributes 5% of net profits to local organizations and created the Cargas Community Fund to provide a self-sustaining resource for future philanthropic initiatives.
In addition to the company’s contributions, Cargas has always been personally invested in the Lancaster community. He currently serves as co-chair of the Jobs Action Team at the Lancaster Coalition to Combat Poverty and serves on the boards of the Lancaster County Community Foundation and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
Cargas and his wife Rebecca established the Chip & Rebecca Cargas Fund at the Lancaster County Community Foundation with the purpose of helping people work from poverty to rewarding careers.
