What’s Included in the Dynamics GP 18.7 Release and 2024 Year-End Update?

Dynamics GP 18.7 is live as of October 2024 and brings some minor updates to the software. However, no major upgrades or new features were added to the system. Read on to discover what’s new and learn why Microsoft is only bringing small-scall changes to Dynamics GP.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.7 Release

Dynamics GP version 18.7 has introduced a handful of enhancements, including:

Additional templates for emailing statements
ID and SSN masking for 1099 forms
Sales Document drill back capability

In addition to these updates, Dynamics GP has patched numerous bug fixes, implemented other simple changes, and solidified important components of last year’s 18.6 release. Most notably, 18.7 maintains that all payables 1099 forms will print with lines, not just 1099-NEC forms.

Note that year-end processes for 1099 forms will also be impacted by new IRS e-filing requirements. Dynamics GP does not include an e-filing feature, but you can visit the Dynamics 365 Community for more information on what to expect.

Why Doesn’t Dynamics GP 18.7 Include New Features?

In April 2023, Microsoft announced that version 18.5, released at the end of 2022, serves as the software’s final major update. However, Microsoft promised to continue deploying annual GP releases, which would include tax, compliance, and security enhancements.

In 2024, Microsoft announced plans to end Dynamics GP support, including product enhancements, regulatory and tax updates, and technical support. All of these will end September 30, 2029, although security updates and patches will continue until April 30, 2031.

Microsoft encourages current GP customers to upgrade to Dynamics 365 cloud solutions for improved security and business management features. Users planning to switch away from Dynamics GP should ensure that their software is updated to version 18.7 for the most seamless transition possible.
