CHALLENGES
Complex and Expansive Data Migration Needs
Holiday Outdoor Decor has recently acquired several other holiday decoration companies to expand its products and services and serve B2B and B2G (business to government) customers more efficiently across the United States.
Sometimes migrating data from the acquired companies goes smoothly, but other times issues arise.
According to Kelsey Fisher, Marketing Manager, Holiday Outdoor Decor encountered hurdles when bringing on a new company in 2021. The acquired company used an outdated CRM, and when its IT person extracted data from the system in preparation for importing it to Salesforce, things did not go well.
“It was huge and a mess,” said Fisher. “We had nearly 60,000 accounts we had to comb through.”
Recognizing that the data cleanup and migration efforts would be extensive and complicated, Holiday Outdoor Decor contacted Cargas for help.

Cargas’s Salesforce consultant, Toru Kawate, advised Holiday Outdoor Decor as they narrowed down the data and formatted it in preparation for the migration.
“They met our very tight deadline for the project, and everything went smoothly when Cargas uploaded the data into our CRM.”
The massive data cleanup and migration efforts began after Thanksgiving and were completed by the company’s December 12 deadline (about two weeks).
Since then, Holiday Outdoor Decor has asked Cargas to help with several other smaller Salesforce CRM projects, including establishing automated workflows, setting up validation rules, creating formulas, and adding new skews to quotes.
“Cargas has become our ‘go-to’ whenever we have specialized Salesforce needs.”

Simplified Processes and Time Saved
Fisher said that Holiday Outdoor Decor will continue to grow. When it acquires new companies, they often have their own CRM and data nuances.
“I don’t see our need for Cargas’s expertise going away anytime soon,” Fisher said.
With Cargas’s help, Holiday Outdoor Decor’s sales team operates more efficiently than before.
“The custom workflows and rules have improved our CRM processes. Our system is really complicated with lots of ‘ifs, ands, and buts.’ Toru at Cargas took all of it into consideration and understood our needs.”
She explained that Cargas also helped streamline the flow of customer account data from Salesforce to their Sage Intacct accounting system.
“We have a third-party integration between Salesforce and our accounting software. So when our sales team sends an order over, they just have to click on a field to automatically enter the information into Sage Intacct,” explained Fisher. “It saves us a ton of time. Toru has been a huge help in working through the many small things that need to come together to make sure it works properly and flows properly into the accounting system.”
She added they’re currently working with Cargas on an update in Salesforce that will force the sales team to clean up existing data before submitting an order through the CRM.
“Cargas is efficient, quick, and understands our processes, unlike any other developers I’ve ever worked with. Going forward, I’ll always use Cargas for any development work and special Salesforce needs.”
