What’s Included in the Dynamics GP 18.6 Release and 2023 Year-End Update?
Learn about the features of the latest Dynamics GP release.

Dynamics GP 18.6 goes live in October 2023 with a handful of small-scale updates. Read on to learn about these updates and discover why version 18.6 doesn’t include major upgrades or new features.
Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.6 Release
Dynamics GP version 18.6 brings small-scale enhancements to different software functions:
- Redisplay button in the financial summary inquiry section
- Blank picking ticket templates for print sales order processing
- Writing assistant for final notice collection letters and HR expiring tests
Software modules and processes upgraded in previous releases have seen additional refinement:
- Print and email cash receipts
- Project time and expense workflow nav lists
- Payroll year-end wage reports
In addition to these updates, Dynamics GP has made two enhancements for collaborative users. Firstly, the reverse fiscal year-end close feature is now iterative, meaning users can go company by company to review information instead of locking down all data at once. This offers more flexibility to teams that rely on GP.
Secondly, users with an Outlook integration can create and use a shared mailbox. This feature enables multi-factor authentication (MFA) for heightened security and requires fewer workarounds than ever before.
The biggest change coming to GP with version 18.6 is that all payables 1099 forms will print with lines. In version 18.5, line printing was exclusive to 1099-NEC forms. Now, all 1099 forms, including 1099-MISC, -INT, and –DIV, can be printed on blank paper instead of pre-purchased templates.
Year-end processes for 1099 forms will also be impacted by new IRS e-filing requirements. Dynamics GP does not include an e-filing feature, but you can visit the Dynamics 365 Community for more information on what to expect.
Why Doesn’t Dynamics GP 18.6 Include New Features?
In April 2023, Microsoft announced that version 18.5, released at the end of 2022, serves as the software’s final major update. Microsoft will continue to deploy security patches through 2031. At that point, Dynamics GP will have reached the end of its life.
Users planning to switch away from Dynamics GP should ensure that their software is updated to version 18.6 for the most seamless transition possible. Learn more about the end of Dynamics GP and what’s next by downloading our Dynamics GP Migration Guide.
