What’s Included in the Dynamics GP 18.5 Release and 2022 Year-End Update?

Learn about the features coming to your solution with the latest Dynamics GP release.

Microsoft packaged Dynamics GP 18.5 and the 2022 Year-End Update in its Q4 release. This article covers the features included in the release and information about how you can update your system.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.5 Release

This latest GP release includes new features for three main categories: the core module, customer requests, and extended functionality.

Some of the most recent updates to the core modules include:

  • Cash Receipt Printing – Users can set up Cash Receipts as Report Writer reports or Word forms and assign them to specific customers.
  • Credit Card Payment Batch Summaries – Users can now post Credit Card batches as one record to Bank Reconciliation, and users can drill down to view individual payments in the batch.
  • Inactive Vendor Address Marking – The latest update allows users to mark vendor address records as “not needed” or “do not use.”

Customer requests and extended functionality have also been fleshed out with the latest release, bringing enhancements to:

  • Checkbook balance and register inquiries
  • Account category and segment lookup
  • Journal entry and workflow inquiries
  • Bank journal reprints
  • Bank history report prints
  • Workflow history for “No Approval Needed” setups
  • Navigation list filters

Like last year, the 2022 Year-End Update was bundled with the latest release. This means you’ll get additional upgrades with version 18.5, such as changes to 1099 forms (INT, MISC, and NEC) and fixed assets.

How to Update Your Software

Customers on GP 2018, 18.2, 18.3, or 18.4 should email Cargas at customercare@cargas.com to schedule their Year-End Update. There is no Year-End Update for customers using Dynamics GP 2016 or older versions. Contact Cargas to upgrade to a currentlysupported version of Dynamics GP so you can receive the Year-End Update.

The Future of Dynamics GP

If you’re using GP 2013 or GP 2018, there are some important dates to keep in mind.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, GP 2018 and 2018 R2 will phase out of mainstream support. Microsoft will still provide extended support, including end-user and technical support, but will not release new patches.

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, GP 2013 will phase out of extended support. This means Microsoft will no longer offer end-user and technical support for GP 2013 users.

In addition to these versions going out of support, Microsoft has announced that version 18.5 will be the final update with major new features for Dynamics GP. After that, GP will only receive routine maintenance, including regulatory and security updates. No new features will be released, and Microsoft will target its investments primarily toward D365 Business Central.
